Giving back to our community and supporting grassroots sport

Avery & Brown is delighted to be providing pro bono marketing and creative support to Churt Juniors Football Club.

We have been supporting Churt Juniors FC with some strategic marketing advice and the planning and execution of a new social media strategy.

Read on to learn more about CJFC and our involvement...

A club with great values and an important role in the community

Churt Juniors Football Club is a community-run junior football club focused on fun and development based near our office here in Farnham, in the Surrey Hills. The club was founded in 2007 as a single village team and its original ethos of fun, development and enjoyment has never changed, and now 350 children play in Churt colours every weekend.

The club's reputation for playing football in the right way with the right values is well known and highly regarded in the local area and beyond. As a local junior sports team, Churt Juniors FC is an essential institution helping children recover their activity to pre-pandemic levels, as well as being a vital point of community support and much needed social interaction.

Avery & Brown - putting people and planet on par with profit

As part of our regenerative business mission and our values of putting people and planet on par with profit, supporting our local community in any way we can is hugely important to us.

Funnily enough, our connection with Churt Juniors FC actually stems from Farnham Rugby Union FC! That's where Simon Lill, CJFC's Commercial Manager, and I play touch rugby together. A conversation in the FRUFC clubhouse over a few post-match beers led to a chat about Simon's involvement in Churt Juniors and how he was looking to help take the club to the next level in terms of its digital presence and strengthening of its community.

Fast forward a few months and, after providing Simon with some general marketing advice, we were delighted to be providing the club with support in the form of social media content creation and publishing - primarily for the club's new Instagram channel.

Here's what Simon has to say about our support:

"As a grassroots local football club we pride ourselves on building relationships in the local community. Avery & Brown reflect and share our values perfectly and have been amazing partners providing their time and advice for free, helping us develop the profile of the club which in turn helps us build for the future, so that more young people can play the game. We have received astonishing levels of support and would never have achieved this without the care, attention and kindness of Avery & Brown."

London, UK (17 October 2023) Three UK Certified B Corporations have launched a new campaign celebrating 'Better Business Pioneers' – individuals in the workplace driving positive change in the face of inaction from world leaders. The campaign, which launches on Monday 23 October 2023, comes in response to the lack of progress on pressing global issues like climate change, biodiversity loss and social inequality. By spotlighting those already driving change, the campaign aims to counter climate doom, inspire more conscious actions, and showcase how we all have the power to shape a better future. The campaign is a collaboration between Avery & Brown, a sustainable brand, marketing and creative agency, The Better Business Network, an inclusive network for purpose-driven business owners and leaders, and OPEN Media, an out-of-home media owner, operating a portfolio of screens across the entire UK.

This is the first in a series of several blogs looking at key brands in the built environment sector and how they approach impact reporting. We’ll be looking at design, outcomes, metrics, audience, insights and much more. Impact reporting is a crucial activity for each and every organisation, but it can also be daunting and overwhelming for a business embarking on its first. The purpose of this blog series is to show the many ways that your company’s impact can be reported and what to look out for along the way. For instance, is an organisation acting upon its insights? Are they communicating their message clearly? And most importantly of all, are they doing it in a way that is sustainable?
