A BIT ABOUT ME:

I’m the Brand and Design Lead for Avery & Brown, which means I oversee the link between our strategic insights and our creative output. My background is similarly interdisciplinary – I read English at Uni but spent most of my time doodling. I’ve always loved the relationship between logic and creativity, so I’ve basically found my perfect job. When I’m not at work, you can usually find me taking on overly ambitious DIY projects or walking my mad dog, Myrtle.

Last week, we received the great news that our Planet Mark certification had come through! This is the third year we’ve undergone the process of measuring and reporting on our business emissions, and it’s something that's essential to any business serious about sustainability. Businesses have a huge role to play in the reduction of global emissions – currently they are responsible for an estimated 18% of all UK GHG emissions. Many companies have no idea how much CO 2 e they emit or where it comes from, which naturally means they have no idea how to start reducing it. That’s why it’s essential to get started as soon as possible, and the numerous companies out there offering solutions means there’s little excuse.

Economic growth and our planet – a difficult relationship The hard truth is that economic growth causes climate change. The richest countries in the world create a disproportionate amount of CO2 and have done since the Industrial Revolution in the 19th Century. And we still haven’t worked out a way to achieve economic growth and stick to the Paris Climate Targets. The problems faced by developed, capitalist economies are twofold.
