The brief

Mesh Energy is a provider of net zero carbon building performance and engineering services. We were engaged in May 2020 with a clear brief: to build on their reputation as trusted experts within the built environment sector and appeal to a wider audience of architects, property developers, and sustainability experts.

Our work with Mesh

We kicked off the project with an extensive deep dive into how Mesh was currently positioned.


We knew we had to work on the creative and digital assets of the brand but to do so we had to understand their audience, their values and their offering.


Once we were armed with this information, we were able to move on to refreshing the brand, building a new website aimed at their target audiences, and developing a strategic content marketing plan with growth and brand awareness in mind.

Because the team were keen to build upon their already impressive reputation, we knew the brand refresh would involve a delicate balancing act of old and new. We helped refresh the look and feel of the brand, evolving the logo into a simpler, cleaner typeform, with a fresh, bold colour palette of lime and iron. The logo's defined spacing and rounded inviting forms give it an approachable yet professional look. The addition of the period, adding a subtle level of confidence. We are Mesh.

The new identity we created for Mesh set them up with everything they needed to roll it out across their digital and print collateral. Two years on, and with some minor adaptations to their positioning, the brand architecture holds strong.

At the beginning of our relationship, we suggested the creation of a community, hosted by Mesh, to bring together architects, engineers and other professionals from the sustainable built environment. 18 months on and Meshwork has over 1,100 members, offering a platform for career development, professional networking, and knowledge sharing. We supported the team in its initial creation, and continue to provide consultancy and marketing to attract and engage additional members.

B Corp

In late 2021, Mesh became an accredited B Corporation. We couldn't be prouder to work as a partner to a company whose ethos we admire and whose values align so clearly with our own. We were able to help the team with a mini-campaign around their announcement when they joined the B Corp family. (In fact, we were the people who told Mesh all about B Corporations and suggested it as something they look into and think about pursuing!)

VIDEO CONTENT

We provide Mesh with ongoing videography and photography support. We've recently started work on a series of videos with the founder, Doug, to support the development of his personal brand. These short and engaging videos for sharing on social media will showcase Doug's thought leadership across the content themes we have designed for Mesh.

The results

Fast forward nearly two years and we are certainly fulfilling the original brief. Mesh is now a far more familiar name amongst its target audiences of UK architecture practices and property developers. Their pipeline of work has grown in breadth and resilience, so much so that the team has more than doubled in response, with a new dedicated Sales Director and a new commercially-focused direction that sees them taking on higher-value clients.

 

The business is well on its way to being the UK's go-to independent renewable energy consultancy.
